Responsive Reading:  Call to Worship

One:

Lord, open our lips

and our mouths will proclaim your praise.

All:

 You are good to those who wait for you,

to all who seek you.

One:

It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,

All:

proclaiming your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,

to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.

One:

For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
I sing for joy at what your hands have done.

Psalm 33: 1-11

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

Praise the Lord with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy.

For the word of the Lord is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.

The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

He gathers the waters of the sea into jars;
he puts the deep into storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the people of the world revere him.

For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.

The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil,

for thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory forever. Amen.

Benediction

Now may the God of peace,

who brought our Lord Jesus back from the dead,

Make us complete in everything good

so that we may be able to do God’s will,

through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory

forever and ever. Amen

Sermon Discussion Questions:

  1. Share about a time when you felt led by God’s Spirit to do something. Or, share about a time when you realized, after the fact, that the Holy Spirit was leading you.

  1. Opening our hearts to God the Holy Spirit is a process. What would it look like for you to seek deeper intimacy with God and be led by His Spirit? Share your ideas. Maybe your ideas will encourage someone else.

Personal Reflection:

  1. How open are you to the possibility of hearing from God as you go about your day? How easy is it for God to get your attention?

  1. Ask the Holy Spirit if there is something new he would like to show you, tell you, or do in your life right now.
