Day 3: Grasping the Love of Christ

Ephesians 3:17b-19, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Morning Prayer: “Jesus Christ, help me grasp your deep love for me today.”

Reflection:

There’s nothing more important than opening our hearts to experience the love of Go

d. It’s not something we calculate, or figure out in our minds. It cannot be measured, but it can be experienced. In the classic hymn “The Love of God” says:

Could we with ink the ocean fill, 
And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill, 
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above, 
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, 
Though stretched from sky to sky.”
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.

God wants to fill us with this love. When was the last time you had a revelation of how much God loves you? He wants to bless you with that again. He wants us each of us to know his love personally.

Evening Prayer (7:00-800 PM): Pray for Others to Experience God’s Love

After we receive God’s amazing love for us, it is natural for us to want others to receive the same. John reminds us in the Scriptures that, “We love, because God first loved us.” Ask God to help you love others with the same love that God loves you. Is there someone that you need to reach out to today with that love? Is there someone that you need to speak to about the love of God? Listen to the Holy Spirit and let him guide you to that someone. As you pray for others to experience God’s love, let God speak.
